I'm a disabled veteran living in Bakersfield. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 2 places, and the kids' bedroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $3,500, which isn't something I can pay. The good news: a local hardware store has donated the shingles and underlay. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for three or four volunteers who can help over three weekday mornings. Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is sturdy shoes, gloves and a willingness to work. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks. The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too. I hope life is good to you.

  • a secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.

    • Praying for you. This could happen to any of us. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend

      • hang in there, Roman. Looking forward to the next update. Blessings.

        • I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. We're a small family in Pune but we're thinking of you.

          • Sending strength. Your post was clear and honest. After 14 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything
