Gerald needs a lift to the Sacramento Dialysis Unit - can you help one day a week?

A rota of drivers to the Sacramento Dialysis Unit would keep Gerald on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Gerald has been on dialysis for 2 years and until recently drove to the Sacramento Dialysis Unit alone. After a foot amputation, Gerald can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 26 km each way. Gerald is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Glad we found this place.

  • You're not alone, Katherine. Shared it with a few friends. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Take care.
