Two weekends of roof repair for Derek, a retired bus driver in Oakland
The roof at Derek's home is failing; materials are donated and we need hands.

I'm a retired bus driver living in Oakland. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 3 places, and the living room is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $4,200, which isn't something I can pay.
The good news: a local hardware store has donated the corrugated iron sheets and timber. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for anyone handy who can help over a weekend.
Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is sturdy shoes, gloves and a willingness to work. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks.
The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too.
Thank you so much.

take care. I hope things turn around soon. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
Sending good thoughts, Derek. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon
So sorry you're going through this, Derek. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Oakland
Wishing you peace, Derek. Your post was clear and honest. We're a small family in Buenos Aires but we're thinking of you.
Thanks for sharing this. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Thinking of Oakland
