Carmen is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a master's in public health at Mérida University, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $800.
The registrar has said Carmen can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Carmen has a 3.9 average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Carmen would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Carmen isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Mérida University bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $800 goes:
• Textbooks and materials: $45
• Exam and lab fees: $75
• Outstanding tuition balance: $680
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
