Terry needs a lift to Columbus General Hospital - can you help one day a week?

Terry needs dialysis three times a week and has lost the ability to drive; volunteer drivers can each take one day.

Terry has been on dialysis for 2 years and until recently drove to Columbus General Hospital alone. After an eyesight problem, Terry can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 30 km each way. Terry is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

  • Best of luck. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. God bless.

    • Stay strong, Arianna. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. God bless.

      • Hope it all works out. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double

        • Keep going. This could happen to any of us. I went through something like this 8 years ago and strangers helped me out.

          • Take care, Arianna. Wishing Terry a smooth procedure and a full recovery. All the best.
