Springfield
My family left Eritrea 14 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Springfield. We're a family of eight and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in September. I was a teacher in Eritrea, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $2,200 goes: • Beds, table and basic furniture: $1,250 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $390 • Language classes and bus passes: $360 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $200 Thank you for reading my story.

Updates from Regina

  1. Thank you all. We're at 16% now ($345). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the landlord and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Quick update: $320 raised so far (15%). we've started the first stage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($270 in total) the plan for winter clothing and school supplies is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
