I'm caring for my father, who's 86. After the death of his spouse Waseem can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Waseem desperately wants to stay at home. I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer. Waseem worked all of his life as a carpenter, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $500 goes: • Part-time carer (three months): $420 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $35 • Medication and prescriptions: $45 Thank you for reading my story. - Hamza

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Waseem

It's all in the list in the story. part-time carer (three months) is the big one at $420, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Ask me anything else.

  • so sorry you're going through this, Hamza. This could happen to any of us. Wish I lived closer to Bangkok so I could bring a meal.

    • Thinking of you and your family. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from London

Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. After 6 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
