The Sycamore wetland cleanup and restoration: help our volunteer crew
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Sycamore wetland needs $1,300 for saplings and equipment.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom893 views
The Sycamore wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 41 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 194 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $530
• Waste removal and skip hire: $520
• Tools and protective gear: $250
Thank you for reading my story.

Looking forward to the next update. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out. God bless!
Wishing you peace. Great idea, hope you get there.
Keep going. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
Sending good thoughts, Gregory. This could happen to any of us. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Love from Radom
