Plant 3,750 native trees around Baobab Beach in Melbourne
A neighborhood-led restoration of Baobab Beach needs $1,300 for saplings and equipment.
🇦🇺 Australia1,232 views
Baobab Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 52 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 149 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,300 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $330
• Waste removal and skip hire: $800
• Signage and educational materials: $170
With deep gratitude,
Ping

Best of luck. Great idea, hope you get there. Greetings from Hồ Chí Minh City.
is there anything that isn't money that would help Ping?
Thank you. If you're in Melbourne I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Appreciate you taking the time.
Take care, Ping. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
Keep going. Shared this with my family. I have a 7 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Melbourne.
Thanks for sharing this, Ping. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.
best of luck, Ping. More neighborhoods should do this. Put this on a community board in Gazipur this morning.
