The Petrenko family fled Iraq - help them rebuild in Bakersfield
The Petrenko family are rebuilding in Bakersfield after leaving Iraq; your gift pays for housing basics.

My family left Iraq 7 months ago after the conflict closed our school and clinic. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Bakersfield. We're a family of five and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in September.
I was a farmer in Iraq, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
Funds are managed by the Bakersfield Welcome Table charity, a registered organization, which pays the landlord and suppliers on the family's behalf.
Where the $2,400 goes:
• Language classes and bus passes: $480
• Phone and internet for school and job search: $115
• Rent deposit and first month: $1,805
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Asher
Language classes and bus passes is $480 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Fair thing to want to know.
thinking of you, Asher. Gave what I could, wish it was more.
