For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Cedar bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,150, and the remaining cost is $2,250.
It will serve about 182 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,250 goes:
• Materials: $1,400
• Permits and inspections: $290
• Safety equipment and signage: $200
• Tools hire and delivery: $360
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Keep going. More neighborhoods should do this. My husband and I read this together.
Sending good thoughts, Jayden. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer
So sorry you're going through this. Great idea, hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Keep going, Jayden. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Please keep us posted. Love from Laredo
Best of luck, Jayden. I hope things turn around soon. Sent it to 37 people at work. God bless.
