My landlord in Auckland has given me a 40% rent increase with a 30-day notice. I've read what I can online, but the rules are confusing and different sources contradict each other.
I'm hoping that someone with experience in housing or tenant rights in Auckland could spare 20-30 minutes to explain the process, the deadlines and the documents I should collect.
I have my lease, all communications and photos organized. I'm happy to share them privately. I can't pay for a lawyer, so any guidance on free services in Auckland would also be appreciated.
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

So sorry you're going through this, Sophie. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Sent it to 26 people at work. Take care
I hope things turn around soon. Wish I lived closer to Brescia so I could bring a meal.
good luck. This could happen to any of us. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend
Hope things get better soon, Sophie. This could happen to any of us.
it takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Auckland.
