Tunde was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in May. The surgeon at Nsukka Regional Medical Center recommended a craniotomy, and He is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,200, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $600 short. my husband has been in and out of Nsukka Regional Medical Center since May. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,200 is more than we can find. While we wait, Tunde struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Tunde won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
