Emiliano was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in May. The surgeon at Ciudad de México University Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,500, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $2,450 short. my father has been in and out of Ciudad de México University Hospital since May. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Emiliano struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Emiliano won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $2,450 goes: • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $190 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,050 • Physiotherapy sessions: $270 • Post-operative medication: $55 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $885 Thanks for being kind about this. - Rosa
