Stop the eviction: 4 months of rent for Abena's family in Accra
After a long illness, Abena is 4 months behind on rent and has a final eviction notice from the landlord.

When my hours were cut in half in July, I fell 4 months behind on rent. Last Wednesday a final eviction notice was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $600.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave.
I have three school-aged children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working night deliveries, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $600 goes:
• Rent arrears (4 months): $470
• Late fees and court costs: $35
• Utilities in arrears: $30
• First month of rent as a buffer: $65

Updates from Abena
Small update. $191 so far, I met with the landlord and confirmed the amounts.
Thank you all. We're at 37% now ($221). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the landlord and confirmed the amounts.
We're at 13% thanks to 3 of you. I made the first payment toward late fees and court costs. More news soon.
