Standing with Yewande: early-stage lung cancer treatment costs

Yewande is facing early-stage lung cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Ogbomosho
In July I was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer. My oncology team at Ogbomosho University Hospital has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in October. I was told to expect about 6 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 41, I worked as a hairdresser until July, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Ogbomosho University Hospital 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,150 goes: • Transport to Ogbomosho University Hospital: $65 • Household costs while unable to work: $230 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $855 Thanks for reading all this.

Transport to Ogbomosho University Hospital is $65 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page.
