Saoirse was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in July. The surgeon at Kilkenny Community Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,500, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,450 short. my mother has been in and out of Kilkenny Community Hospital since July. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Saoirse struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Saoirse won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $2,450 goes: • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $390 • Travel and lodging for the family: $320 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $1,740 Thanks for reading all this. - Cathal
