Vijay was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in June. The oncology team at Bakersfield Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in August. He will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Vijay is 29, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Bakersfield Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $5,400 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,250 • Scans and lab work: $890 • Transport to Bakersfield Regional Medical Center: $780 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $480 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Ramesh
