Standing with Saanvi: stomach cancer treatment costs
6 rounds of treatment are planned at the Sydney Oncology Institute; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.
🇦🇺 Australia799 views
Saanvi was diagnosed with stomach cancer in July. The oncology team at the Sydney Oncology Institute has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 6 weeks.
Saanvi is 26, worked as a hairdresser until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Sydney Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $9,500 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $780
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $7,750
• Scans and lab work: $970
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
