Justice shouldn't depend on a bank balance: Alexandra's wage-theft claim
Alexandra needs $3,150 for filing fees and representation in a wage-theft claim before the March deadline.

I'm facing a wage-theft claim. My hearing is scheduled for March, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $3,150. I have been told by three legal-aid offices that their waiting list is longer than my deadline.
I have all of my paperwork ready, and my caseworker at a local immigrant rights clinic has confirmed that my case is valid.
If I miss the deadline I could lose my right to stay with my family and my job. My children were born here and this is the only home they know.
I'll share any non-sensitive updates as the case moves along.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $3,150 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $1,950
• Filing and biometrics fees: $770
• Certified translations and document copies: $170
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $260
Thank you so much.

Thinking of you and your family, Alexandra. Shared this with my family. Sent it to 37 people at work.
Sending good thoughts. Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Los Angeles
So sorry you're going through this. Hope you get there. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Take care.
Hang in there. It takes guts to ask. Well done. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Take care.
