In August I was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer. My oncology team at Liverpool Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in December. I was told to expect about 5 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 53, I worked as a nurse until August, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Liverpool Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $6,400 goes:
• Scans and lab work: $970
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,000
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $430

Wishing Reagan a smooth procedure and a full recovery. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
