A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Greensboro
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a sensory garden for children with autism - we need $3,650 for materials.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,650.
It will serve about 478 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,650 goes:
• Materials: $2,850
• Permits and inspections: $390
• Safety equipment and signage: $145
• Tools hire and delivery: $265
