Standing with Geeta: thyroid cancer treatment costs
Geeta is facing thyroid cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Geeta was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in April. The oncology team at Birmingham Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in August. She will be away from work for about 5 weeks.
Geeta is 51, worked as a construction supervisor until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Birmingham Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $7,600 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,850
• Scans and lab work: $1,400
• Transport to Birmingham Cancer Centre: $1,050
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $370
• Household costs while unable to work: $930
