Septoplasty for Kunle: covering what insurance won't
Kunle needs septoplasty at Ikeja General Hospital and the family is $200 short of the hospital's estimate.

In June I was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc. My surgeon at Ikeja General Hospital recommended septoplasty, and I have been placed on the schedule for August. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $290, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $200 short.
Doctors at Ikeja General Hospital told me a herniated spinal disc will get worse without septoplasty. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $290 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $200 goes:
• Travel and lodging for the family: $40
• Physiotherapy sessions: $130
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $30

Thinking of you. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I hope August is when things finally get easier. Thinking of Ikeja.
I hope things turn around soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Ikeja
