In December I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. My oncology team at Nîmes Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in March. I was told to expect about 8 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 24, I worked as a bus conductor until December, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Nîmes Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $6,550 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $330 • Transport to Nîmes Cancer Centre: $480 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,740 Glad we found this place.
