Rides to dialysis three times a week for Annelie in Johannesburg
Annelie needs dialysis three times a week and has lost the ability to drive; volunteer drivers can each take one day.
🇿🇦 2002, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa1,632 views
Annelie has been on dialysis for 2 years and until recently drove to the Johannesburg Dialysis Unit alone. After an eyesight problem, Annelie can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week.
We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 22 km each way.
Annelie is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food.
Please say which day works for you in the comments.
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Thinking of you and your family, Sibusiso. Hope the doctors have good news. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out.
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Johannesburg
Thanks for sharing this, Sibusiso. Hope the doctors have good news.
good luck, Sibusiso. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.

Hope it all works out. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Don't give up. Take care.
