Restoring the Harmony riverbank: a volunteer-led project in Addis Ababa
Volunteers are restoring the Harmony riverbank in Addis Ababa; $300 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇪🇹 Addis Ababa, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia1,282 views
The Harmony riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This January, 90 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 131 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $185
• Tools and protective gear: $55
• Waste removal and skip hire: $30
• Signage and educational materials: $30
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Praying for you, Fasil. Hope you get there. All the best.
So sorry you're going through this, Fasil. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings.
