I'm caring for my mother, who's 82. After worsening Parkinson's disease Radhika can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Radhika desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Radhika worked all of her life as a shopkeeper, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $550 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $370
• Medication and prescriptions: $45
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $55
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $80
