Gulu
Irene is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a degree in social work at the Gulu Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $500. The registrar has said Irene can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Irene has a 3.9 average, and an academic advisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Irene would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Irene isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $500 goes: • Textbooks and materials: $20 • Final term tuition: $220 • Outstanding tuition balance: $260 If you're reading this, thank you.
