Let's build a sensory garden for children with autism together in Angeles
Volunteers in Angeles are raising $550 for a sensory garden for children with autism at the Pioneer vacant lot.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 496 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $440
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Safety equipment and signage: $60
• Tools hire and delivery: $30

Stay strong. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
