In August I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. My oncology team at the San Nicolás de los Garza Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in December. I was told to expect about 4 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 40, I worked as a farmer until August, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the San Nicolás de los Garza Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $4,100 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,550 • Scans and lab work: $570 • Transport to the San Nicolás de los Garza Oncology Institute: $155 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $250 • Household costs while unable to work: $575 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Eduardo

  • Best of luck, Eduardo. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best.

    • Rooting for you, Eduardo. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from Cardiff.

        • keep going. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Cairo.
