Natalie was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in August. The surgeon at Geelong University Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,750, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $7,500 short.
my mother has been in and out of Geelong University Hospital since August. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Natalie struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Natalie won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.

what exactly is the $7,500 for?
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. surgeon and anesthesia fees comes first ($3,900) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for asking.
