Let's build a community garden together in Ankara
A community-led a community garden at Baobab Primary School that will serve 398 neighbors.
🇹🇷 Ankara, Ankara, Türkiye1,457 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $340, and the remaining cost is $800.
It will serve about 398 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $800 goes:
• Materials: $680
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Permits and inspections: $90
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't give up. Thinking of Ankara.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Metin
Sure. The biggest one is materials, $680. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Appreciate you taking the time.
Good luck. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't give up. God bless.
hang in there, Metin. Looking forward to the next update. God bless.
rooting for you, Metin. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. It's not much but it's yours. Take care
