Let's build a community fridge together in Pietermaritzburg
A community-led a community fridge at the Union health centre yard that will serve 101 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $600.
It will serve about 101 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $600 goes:
• Materials: $470
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $40
