Keep a roof over Qian's head in Rochester
After a cut in working hours, Qian is 4 months behind on rent and has a 10-day notice to quit from the landlord.
🇺🇸 Rochester, New York, United States2,300 views
When the warehouse closed in August, I fell 4 months behind on rent. Last Saturday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $3,500.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by December, we must leave.
I have a teenager still in school at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $3,500 goes:
• First month of rent as a buffer: $980
• Utilities in arrears: $310
• Rent arrears (4 months): $2,210

Thinking of you. Hope you get there. Thinking of Rochester.
hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Syracuse.
Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. God bless!
Thinking of you and your family, Qian. Hope you get there. Love from Mwanza
Wishing you peace, Qian. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Rochester!
