Keep a roof over Gerald's head in San Antonio
A sudden layoff left Gerald short on rent for 5 months; help us stay in our home.
🇺🇸 Texas, United States759 views
When my hours were cut in half in August, I fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Wednesday a termination letter was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $4,050.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave.
I have three school-aged children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $4,050 goes:
• First month of rent as a buffer: $1,100
• Rent arrears (5 months): $2,650
• Utilities in arrears: $300
Every share and every dollar helps.

Good luck, Gerald. Looking forward to the next update. Thinking of San Antonio
Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Put this on a community board in Toronto this morning. Take care.
Hope it all works out, Gerald. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. Blessings
