Hurricane in Oakland: help Eastgate village rebuild
After the hurricane, families in Eastgate village need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

The hurricane hit Eastgate village on 16 July. My home was one of 18 damaged, and 4 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $8,400 goes:
• Tools and labor for repairs: $1,750
• Food parcels for displaced families: $1,800
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,500
• Roofing sheets and timber: $3,350
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
Updates from Mateo
Quick update: $2,542 raised so far (30%). we've started the first stage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Wanted to say thank you properly. 12% funded and I made the first payment toward tools and labor for repairs.
