Baobab Primary School needs a free library and reading room - Luke's neighborhood project
A community-led a free library and reading room at Baobab Primary School that will serve 417 neighbors.
🇺🇸 United States1,819 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,600.
It will serve about 417 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,600 goes:
• Materials: $1,350
• Permits and inspections: $330
• Safety equipment and signage: $470
• Tools hire and delivery: $450
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
