A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Jacksonville
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a skate park - we need $2,800 for materials.
🇺🇸 United States1,591 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,800.
It will serve about 282 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,800 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $500
• Tools hire and delivery: $450
• Materials: $1,850
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

This could happen to any of us. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Stuttgart.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Ning!
Sending good thoughts, Ning. Shared this with my family. Love from Kisumu.
Hang in there, Ning. Looking forward to the next update. Thinking of Jacksonville.
Hope it all works out. I hope things turn around soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings!
