Sunil was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in August. The surgeon at Kathmandu Community Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,100, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $650 short. my son has been in and out of Kathmandu Community Hospital since August. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,100 is more than we can find. While we wait, Sunil struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Sunil won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $650 goes: • Hospital stay (2 nights): $250 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $290 • Physiotherapy sessions: $110 Thank you so much.

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Sunil

    • Stay strong. Your post was clear and honest. My neighbor in São Paulo donated after I showed her your page. All the best.

      • Wishing Sunil a smooth procedure and a full recovery. We're a small family in Lahore but we're thinking of you. All the best

        • Wishing you the best. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
