Help Sophia restart a tailoring shop in Oakland after the demolition of the market
Sophia lost three industrial sewing machines to the demolition of the market and needs $2,850 to reopen a tailoring shop and support the family.

For six years I have run a tailoring shop in Oakland. In November, the demolition of the market took three industrial sewing machines. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Wednesday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $2,850 goes:
• Working capital for the first month: $310
• Replacing three industrial sewing machines: $2,200
• Initial stock: fabric and thread: $340
Thanks for being kind about this.

Sending good thoughts. Your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money
Hang in there, Sophia. Small businesses are the heart of Oakland. Hope you're open again soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. God bless.
Good luck, Sophia. I hope things turn around soon. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Thinking of Oakland
Thinking of you, Sophia. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust
Stay strong. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Dar es Salaam
Hope it all works out, Sophia. Shared it with a few friends.
