For four years I have run a bicycle repair shop in Ottawa. In May, a fire in the building took a full set of tools. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Wednesday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 10 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go. Where the $2,600 goes: โ€ข Replacing a full set of tools: $1,050 โ€ข Initial stock: spare parts: $600 โ€ข Shop repairs and licensing: $360 โ€ข Working capital for the first month: $590 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Thank you. If you're in Ottawa I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Good question.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Jameson

          • Jameson D. MackOwnerAnswer

Sure. The biggest one is replacing a full set of tools, $1,050. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. It helps to be asked.

        • Stay strong. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Ottawa

            • Sending good thoughts. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Wish I lived closer to Gaya so I could bring a meal. Take care.
