The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Cebu City is running low just as demand rises; $500 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Sunday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 22 families, and now we feed 118 each week. Donations have dropped by about 59% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Cebu City market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $500 goes: • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $150 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $280 • Refrigeration and electricity: $70 Glad we found this place.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Rafael

                • Rafael S. RamosOwnerAnswer

Sure. The biggest one is fresh vegetables and fruit, $150. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for looking so closely.
