Cataract surgery for Hussain: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled cataract surgery in August is out of reach without help covering $400 of the cost.

Hussain was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in May. The surgeon at Saint Elizabeth Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $530, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $400 short.
my husband has been in and out of Saint Elizabeth Hospital since May. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $530 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Hussain struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Hussain won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.

The list at the bottom is the whole picture. travel and lodging for the family is the biggest at $25. Fair thing to want to know.
