Help Atim pay for emergency hernia repair at Mombasa Regional Medical Center
A scheduled emergency hernia repair in October is out of reach without help covering $700 of the cost.

Atim was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in July. The surgeon at Mombasa Regional Medical Center recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,400, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $700 short.
my wife has been in and out of Mombasa Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,400 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Atim struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Atim won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $700 goes:
• Post-operative medication: $40
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $530
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $65
• Travel and lodging for the family: $65
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

best of luck, Okello. Your post was clear and honest. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
