Dignity in old age: caring for Daniel
Daniel, 76, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $1,600 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 76. After a stroke last December Daniel can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Daniel desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Daniel worked all of his life as a bus driver, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $1,600 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $1,050
• Medication and prescriptions: $250
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $110
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $190
