A rainwater harvesting system for the Maple health centre yard: help our neighbors in Cardiff
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the Maple health centre yard that will serve 504 neighbors.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom249 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,900.
It will serve about 504 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,900 goes:
• Materials: $2,200
• Permits and inspections: $150
• Safety equipment and signage: $240
• Tools hire and delivery: $310
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

thinking of you, Brielle. Your post was clear and honest. Thinking of Cardiff
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Brielle?
Thank you. If you're in Cardiff I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Happy to explain more.
Wishing you the best. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust
Good luck, Brielle. Great idea, hope you get there. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Thinking of Cardiff.
