I'm caring for me, who's 77. After a diagnosis of dementia Garba can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Garba desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Garba worked all of his life as a nurse, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $550 goes:
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $45
• Part-time carer (eight months): $450
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $55

Hope things get better soon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry
