Isabela was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in April. The oncology team at Belo Horizonte Regional Medical Center has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in July. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Isabela is 52, worked as a farmer until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Belo Horizonte Regional Medical Center 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,650 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,250 • Scans and lab work: $310 • Transport to Belo Horizonte Regional Medical Center: $330 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $270 • Household costs while unable to work: $490 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
