San Jose
Teresa was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer in June. The oncology team at San Jose Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in September. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Teresa is 33, worked as a nurse until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to San Jose Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $6,900 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,350 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $780 • Scans and lab work: $1,770 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Thanks for sharing this. Wishing Teresa a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I went through something like this 7 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.

      • Keep going. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I have a 6 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Take care

        • You're not alone, Luca. Hope the doctors have good news. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

          • Thinking of you and your family. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.
